Kangar is the capital of the state of Perlis, Malaysia and the northern city of the country. It has a total population of 48,898 people (2004). Kangar is located at the northernmost point in Peninsular Malaysia, northwest of Alor Setar, close to the Thai border and along the Perlis River. The downtown area in Kangar is Mukim Sena.
